More than 25 years ago, my husband Derrick and I walked into St. James the Less on a Sunday in June. We had been looking for a church home for our family -- our son Sam was about 6 months old then -- and had not found any place that felt right to us. We walked through the doors carrying our baby, and a friendly soul immediately asked, "Who are you guys?" We were hooked. SJTL simply felt like home, and it still does. Through life's ups and downs, SJTL and its wonderful people have always been there to support us, and I am so very thankful to be a part of this church.
I grew up in an Episcopal church in Danville, Virginia. After college and law school, where Derrick and I met, we settled in Hanover County. I currently work as a staff attorney at the Virginia Court of Appeals. We have three sons, and Will, our youngest, will graduate from high school this year.
I served on the vestry about 10 years ago. I've been involved with a number of church committees, including two terms on the Chenery Committee. I also enjoy being a part of the bell choir. This is a very exciting time for our church, and I would like to serve on the vestry as we plan our path for the future.
